Courses

Gary has developed a series of courses designed to pass information in an efficient and memorable way. The emphasis is on fun learning.

Self Protection
This course is developed for women or men, and is suitable for all persons over 14.

The practical core of the course would involve a practical system of effective moves to free a person from an attacker, giving room to escape. This will involve teaching clients:

Use of elbow strikes;
Use of knee strikes;
A system of pulls, pokes, scratches, slaps, bites, stomps, kicks, elbows, knees, manipulations all designed to effect an escape;
Principals of balance.

(It will not teach complex 'martial arts moves' that tend to be hard to execute unless you are highly skilled, and may cause more damage to the unskilled person trying the techniques. This is not a fitness nor martial arts course.)

Working around the course core above, we will explain and inform:

Psychology of an attacker;
Legal and moral issues with self defence;
Physiological effects during an attack, a victim's state of mind: freeze,
flight, fight;
Defences: Passive, Psychological, Physical, Personal, Avoidance;
Foresight - techniques to raise awareness and spot situations before they
arise including alertness and peripheral vision;
Lone working and lone travelling;
Safety and your car;
Stop looking and acting like a target;
Caution in respect to giving out personal information;
Weapons, what constitutes a weapon, how to use them, and the pro's and con's of weapons;
Personal attack alarms - are they effective?
How to become your own 'bodyguard';

And many practical tips and tricks to live far safer...

Kickboxing For Fitness
Supported by detailed course notes, this course has been developed by Gary in conjunction with Andre Daltrey.

Many personal trainers are requested for kickboxing training as part of the services issued to their clients. Many personal trainers try to give this service, but don't know how to teach techniques or even hold equipment correctly. These courses address this situation, training the trainer, how to teach their clients correct technique and how to utilise equipment in the correct safe manner.
